Home made refreshments are available all day. We start the day by providing hot 'bacon butties' plus tea/coffee at virtually cost price, for the benefit of the dealers, many of whom travel long distances and therefore have left home in the early hours of the morning to arrive in Bedale by 8 a.m. to set up their stalls. This refreshment is usually available between 9 a.m. until 10 o'clock when the doors open to the public. The menu for the rest of the day is usually as follows - REMEMBER everything is HOME MADE - the sandwiches are always made on the morning of the Fair. Sandwiches, you can choose from a selection of:- Ham, Ham & Salad, Egg, Egg & Cress, Tuna & Cucumber, Tuna & Lettuce, Cheese & Red Onion, Cheese & Pickle. Also on offer are Extra Special Chocolate Cake, Rich Fruit Cake, Piece of Wensleydale Cheese, Apple Pie. Buttered Scone - home baked - late Sat. night or early Sun. morning! (Cheese or Fruit), Yorkshire Parkin. Drinks: Tea or Coffee are constantly freshly made throughout the day. Pure Orange or Apple Juice.
Please bear in mind that as this Fair is run to raise funds for "Friends of Chernobyl's Children", ALL helpers are volunteers. Almost all are either from the local farming community or have full time jobs during the week but they very loyally give hours of their limited spare time to running this Fair. The aim is to make it a very friendly and enjoyable event which, hopefully, patrons will want to come back to every event!
